1998 Luigi Pira Barolo Marenca
Luigi Pira Barolo, Piedmont,
Italy Nebbiolo (a dry red table wine)
The great 1998 Barolo Marenca offers the essence of Nebbiolo in its sweet
bouquet of roasted espresso, cedar, Chinese black tea, soy, and black
cherry/plum-like fruit. Dense, full-bodied, and viscous, this exceptional
Barolo's purity and essence of Nebbiolo-like character make it a compelling wine
to drink now and over the next 12-18 years.

1998 Luigi Pira Barolo Margheria
Luigi Pira Margaria,
Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy Nebbiolo (a dry red table
wine)
The dark plum-colored 1998 Barolo Margheria exhibits structure as well as a
backward character. It is full-bodied, with outstanding concentration, offering
notes of chocolate, black cherry liqueur, spice box, and earth. There is plenty
of glycerin, moderate tannin, and a long, 40-second finish in this tightly-knit
effort. It will drink well for 10-16 years.
