「あれ、ヴィンテージ・ポートを飲んでいたんだっけ？」
等と勘違いしそうです．．（笑）
是非とも一度は味わってみてください。奥深さと華やかさが同居した素晴らしい味わいに出会えるでしょう。お奨めです。

The brilliant 2000 Don Antonio is a selection
made from the estate's oldest Nero d'Avola
vineyards that has been aged 12 months in
French oak prior to bottling. A complex bouquet
of creme de cassis, blueberries, smoke, and
graphite jumps from the glass of this dense
purple-colored offering. Full-bodied, with
sensational richness, fine purity, a long
palate presence, and a layered finish, it
should drink well for a decade or more.
Morgante is an up and coming winery that
has brought in oenologist Riccardo Cotarella
to oversee the winemaking. Cotarella has
a strong interest in exploiting what he believes
to be a varietal with tremendous potential,
the indigenous Nero d'Avola.

【例年の凝縮感は無いものの、その分マリアージュさせやすいです．．パワー
＋ 洗練さ ！】
初めて ドン・アントニオ を飲んだときの衝撃は、今も忘れません。真っ黒な色合いからの強い凝縮感は、荒削りながらも過熟させずに端正な一面をも持っていたからです。暑い地域のワインは、どこか繊細さに欠け、力任せで粗野に成りがちです。事実、このシチリアのワインは、そのような傾向に有ったわけです。
2001年もさすがの出来映えですが、むしろ2000年以前の方がパワフルで、「らしさ」を表現していたように思います。リアルワインガイドの次号、第８号にもおそらく出るはずですので、お楽しみにしてください。
感じられるのは黒系の小果実、コーヒー、チョコ、ミネラル。太く伸びやかなノーズです。スケール感は例年よりもやや小さめだがコンパクトに纏まり、中庸のボディから横にやや拡がりながら収束します。まあ、比較の問題でコンパクト、と言っていますので、内地のワイン、特に北の産地に比較すれば大きなものです。
若干置いた方が美味しくなるかな？と思いますが、果実味が充実していますので今でもＯＫでしょう。ブルゴーニュ専門家のタンザーさんは
「８５ポイント」と散々な評価です。noisy にしてみれば、
「どこを見てそんなに低いのか理解できない」
です。
また、アドヴォケイト紙はイタリア専門家のダニエル・トーマセスさんが「９２ポイント」
と高い評価．．これも noisy に言わせれば、
「奢りすぎ。過大評価」
だと思います。
「ポテンシャルで最大、９１ポイントまでは考えられるかな．．」
というところで、
今飲んで ８８ ポテンシャル９０ というのが妥当だと思います。この力強く黒みの有る果実味をお楽しみください。お薦めします。

The 2001 Don Antonio, as in other years the prototype Nero d’Avola of Sicily, is
a very dark ruby red with a potent and very ample nose of rich red and black
fruit and chocolate. The deep, concentrated and sustained flavors are very
sensual in their velvety texture, but have power to spare on the finish. Drink:
2004-2014.
Sicily’s finest Nero d’Avola-based wines? Over the past four
years they have been made by the Morgante family at Grotte, near Agrigento, with
the inspired assistance of Riccardo Cotarella, and this year as well they appear
to have something which gives them that extra margin of distinction.
